Esther has a BSc degree in Biochemistry, and she also holds a PhD in Computational Chemistry, both by Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV). She developed her thesis at the Cheminformatics & Nutrition Research Group. Her research was mainly focused on the improvement of Computer Aided Drug Design workflows using and applying ligand-based and receptor-based approaches with the aim of identifying natural molecules as bioactive compounds for interesting targets in the cardiovascular diseases field.
She was a PhD student visitor (holding a Short EMBO fellowship) in the Molecular Modelling Group of Swiss Institute Bioinformatics (SIB).
After finishing her PhD, she gains experience in Drug Discovery Industry, she was working as a Computational Chemist at Intelligent Pharma for eight years.
Her research during the PhD and the work experience produced 12 scientific publications in international peer-review journals.
Dr. Esther Sala is nowadays Project Manager in Computational Chemistry at Nostrum Biodiscovery.
